Frequently we are asked, “What does an access floor panel weigh?” Following is the average weight of each standard access floor panel. Please be aware that this weight is for a panel with high pressure laminate surface covering, and can vary slightly by manufacturer and panel grade. These are average weights:
We also offer access floor in a kit, which includes panels and the supporting understructure. These kits are sold by the square foot with everything you need to install them in your room. This doesn’t include accessories such as ramps, steps handrails and grommets.
Kit weight including understructure (Weight per square foot)
Depending upon the manufacturer, stringers weigh .75 - 1.5 pounds each and pedestals weigh between 1 - 2 pounds each.
Raised floor panels are available in two sizes.
The most popular size is 24” x 24” square which is the USA industry standard panel size, or 610mm x 610mm. Raised floor panels are typically a full 24" x 24" when measured from the outside of the edge trim to the outside of the edge trim. Metric sized panels are also available which measure 600mm x 600mm. Metric sized panels are not interchangeable with USA standard 24" understructure.
How Much Weight Can a Raised Access Floor Hold? The weight load capacity range for standard raised access flooring ranges from 950 pounds - 1250 pounds.
Occasionally we are asked "What weight can my access floor support"? This is commonly referred to as the concentrated load rating of the access floor panel. These weights are calculated with the panels in place on the supporting understructure. We have a chart for each panel and each condition on the pages below. Here are the average concentrated loads:
Woodcore: 1000 pounds All Steel: 1250 poundsConcrete filled Steel: 1000 -1500 poundsAluminum: 1000 - 1250 pounds
