Creating an account has many benefits:
The top of the guardrail should not exceed 42” from the top of the access floor.
The center rail height shall be no higher than 21” from the top of the access floor.
Guardrail should be placed anywhere in the room where the raised floor is over 6” in height. This prevents equipment and personnel from stepping off the raised floor. Guardrail should be horizontal double rail, with vertical posts spaced at 3 ½ - 4’ increments.
Guardrail pipe not to exceed 2” in diameter. Beware, some codes only want 1 ½” guardrail.
Where the steps or ramps require both handrail and guardrail, the handrail can be mounted to the guardrail. It must be a seamless transition (connection fittings are allowed) from the handrail to the guardrail.
