This steel stringer is available in a 2' or 4' length. It is designed to be used on some all steel or concrete filled system as the grid that supports the panels. The black gasket is part of the design. Screws are required but are not included. They must be purchased separately.
If this part is being recommended as a replacement it is beacuse there is no other system that will fully interface with your grid that is manufactured today. This stringer will enable you to "make it work" and extend the life of your existing floor. This will require some onsite creativity and cutting by a carpenter to get them to work and interface with your existing obsolete system.
Stringers are steel or aluminum rods that form a basic grid which provides lateral stability for raised floors. They are sometimes referred to as crossbars, bars, channels or connecting rods, crosspieces, joiners, grid, grid arm, lateral bars or horizontal bars. In woodcore systems, panels sit on top of the stringers, and in most steel systems, the panels nest inside the grid. Depending on the design, a gasket is typically included with the stringer that is factory or field-installed. Stringers are usually 2' or 4' in length, and can be snapped into place or fastened from the top with a screw.
Please note that all raised floor systems (i.e. woodcore, steel) require different stringers. If you are installing a new floor, stringers and understructure are included in our kits. If you have an existing raised floor and need replacements, stringers must be matched to your floor to ensure a proper fit. To guarantee that the correct stringer is chosen, visit the Panel IDC Center. Alternatively, you may order stringers here now, and once we receive your identification information from the Panel IDC Center, we will add them to your order.
