Floor Covering Materials
- Micro-squared 12 x 12 inch tile to plus or minus 0.002 inch; cut vertical edges perpendicular to tile surface.
- Precision control gauge to assure smooth surface with no high edges.
Manufacturing Tolerances
- Flooring Adhesives: VPI No. 150 Conductive Epoxy Adhesive as provided by flooring manufacturer for specific use.

Source Quality Control
EXECUTION
- Verify that [stranded ground wire is in place at floor-wall juncture, and is properly connected to ground.] [steel column in area is suitable for grounding.] CONSULT WITH MANUFACTURER FOR PRECAUTIONS WHEN SUBSTRATE IS LIGHTWEIGHT AGGREGATE CONCRETE, MAGNESITE FLOORING, OR FOR BELOW-GRADE CONDITIONS.
- Verify that concrete subfloors on or below-grade are installed over a suitable moisture retardant membrane.
- Ensure concrete floors are dry and exhibit neutral alkalinity, carbonization, or dusting. Maximum moisture emission: Three lb./1000 sq. ft./24 hours. MOISTURE TEST KITS ARE AVAILABLE; MOISTURE TESTS ARE RECOMMENDED.
- Ensure floor surfaces are smooth and flat with maximum variation of 1/8 inch in 10 feet.
- Ensure floor surfaces are clean and free from dust, paint, oil, grease, curing agents, parting compounds, surface hardeners, sealers, solvents, old adhesives, and other extraneous substances.
- Beginning of installation means acceptance of surfaces and conditions.
Examination
- Install flooring in accordance with manufacturer's printed instructions.
Installation
- Connect copper grounding strip provided by flooring manufacturer to stranded ground wire; cut small recess into wall or floor and place grounding strip and ground wire into hole; bury connection in conductive adhesive filled to floor level or wall surface. OR
- Drill and tap steel column; connect grounding strip to column in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
- Lay balance of grounding strip flat in conductive adhesive on floor and cover with additional adhesive. Install flooring over grounding strip.
Grounding
- Test completed installation by factory representative in presence of Architect and Owner, in accordance with the test procedures of NFPA 99 or ANSI/ASTM F 150.
Field Quality Control
- Prohibit traffic on finished floor for 48 hours after installation.
Protection
- Remove excess adhesive from floor, base, and wall surfaces without damage, while adhesive is still wet.
- Clean floor and base surfaces in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
